Our Mentor Family Ministry
The first Sunday of every month is visit day. What may surprise many people is that the majority of our kids do have some biological family, even if they're not currently able to live with them. On visit days, safe members of their families are welcomed onto campus to attend church and then have lunch and spend supervised time with the kids afterwards.
But about 30% of the children at Casa Bernabé do not have biological family members who are able to visit them. That's why our Mentor Families Program is such a special ministry.
Local Christian families volunteer to serve as Mentor Families specifically for our kids who don't have biological families who they're in contact with. They come to Casa Bernabé to spend intentional time with these kids, share a meal, enjoy activities together, celebrate birthdays and graduations, and most importantly, build lasting relationships with them.
These families become another circle of encouragement and support, reminding our children that they are deeply loved and valued. In some cases, those relationships continue into adulthood, with young adults even choosing to live with their mentor families after turning 18. Two of our older girls who grew up at Casa Bernabé recently moved in with their Mentor Family, and they're thriving.
We're so thankful for these families who faithfully demonstrate the love of Christ, one relationship at a time.
