Sometimes Healing Looks Like a Tea Party

When people think of a children's home, they often picture the basics: food, clothing, education, medical care, and a safe place to sleep. Those things are essential, and every child at Casa Bernabé receives them.

But healing is about so much more than meeting physical needs.

Recently, a team from ORC in Florida hosted a beautiful tea party for the girls at Casa Bernabé. The tables were decorated with delicate china, sweet treats were carefully prepared, and for an afternoon, our girls laughed, visited with one another, and enjoyed an experience many had never had before.

It may have looked like a simple afternoon, but it was something much deeper.

Many of the children who arrive at Casa Bernabé have experienced abuse, neglect, abandonment, or trauma at a very young age. As they begin to heal, it's important that they don't simply survive. They must learn how to enjoy being children again.

Moments like these help restore what trauma often steals. They remind our children that they are valued, worthy of celebration, and deeply loved. They build confidence, strengthen friendships, create a sense of belonging, and fill childhood with joyful memories that will last long after they leave Casa Bernabé.

We believe this reflects the heart of God.

Throughout Scripture, we see a God who delights in His children. Jesus welcomed children, spent time with them, celebrated with people around the table, and came so that we might have life "to the full" (John 10:10).

At Casa Bernabé, restoration isn't only about providing safety. It's also about creating opportunities for children to experience joy, laughter, beauty, friendship, and love, because these moments help restore hearts..

We are so grateful to the team who lovingly planned this special afternoon and to every supporter whose generosity makes experiences like this possible.

Thank you for helping our children experience not only protection and provision, but the joy of simply being kids.
