Meet the Team: Checking in with Marleigh

Our Onsite Team Coordinator, Marleigh Beaker, is the person in charge of hosting all our visiting teams and missionaries. As she approaches the end of her first year serving at Casa Bernabé, we thought now was a good time to check in with her and ask her to share how she's doing and any updates she wants to share with all of you.

"I will have been at Casa Bernabé for a year in July, and wow—has time flown by. This season has been such a sweet time with the kids and staff here, with our visitors, and most importantly with the Lord. I have learned so much in the past 10 months, like how to speak Spanish, and also how to rely on the Lord for my every need.

"I truly love the work I get to do, and I feel so passionate about what Casa Bernabé is doing that it makes the tough days a little bit easier. Life has started to feel comfortable here. The staff and kids have truly welcomed me with open arms, and there is not a day that goes by that I am not grateful for the time I get to spend with them.

"I have enjoyed getting to serve CB in other ways besides with teams as I’ve taken over organizing the bodega (donation closet), started volunteering with our youth group, and teaching English classes when I have time. I also love spending time in the houses, whether it’s playing cards, helping with homework, watching movies, or having a slumber party. Spending time with the precious kids here truly makes all of the difficult things worth it.

"I’ve still been navigating how to rest well in this job, as days are busy and there is always something to do, but I’ve really been enjoying going for walks, listening to music, journaling with a hot cup of tea, and reading on my Kindle.

"I truly have been so appreciative of the way our teams and visitors have taken me under their wing and poured into me as an individual, not just as their teams coordinator for the week. That truly fills me up.

"As I head into year two, I’m feeling so incredibly grateful for this wonderful ministry and the opportunity I have to share it with others. I’m also expectant of all the new things the Lord will show me and teach me."

Thank you!
